SU Team recently had the opportunity to share some books for studying and teaching God’s Word designed for children aged 3-6 with the pastor and leadership of the Churches that belong to the Protestant denomination called Good News Pentecostal (Phúc Âm Ngũ Tuần). That time of sharing went favorably with the excitement and support from the administration of the Churches.
The curriculum for GOD’S BIG STORY was researched by the SU Team and developed with 52 key words and matching actions – in the same way that WALKING THROUGH THE BIBLE was – to help preschoolers memorize and retell the big story of God in 5 minutes.
A little more information for parents and teachers; every keyword will be expanded upon through one or more classes, with each class including:
- The relevant keyword + action
- A game
- A lesson
- An activity
- A section on important knowledge about life
- A song – dance – poem
- Review the action & Pray
Through these materials, the SU Team wishes that our preschoolers will be able to hear the story of God’s love. They will be able to understand that the focus of everything the Bible talks about is Jesus, not just an educational story with a nice lesson on morals, like about the amazing Abraham, the cool Joshua, or the brave and talented David. We hope that these books will play a part in building up a basic foundational awareness of the Bible and of the culture and teachings of God’s Word.
During the time spent sharing the materials, we were impressed with a question from Pastor Duong Thanh Lam: “They will only be children for 5-10 more years. If we don’t start taking care of them now, where will they go?” Truly, the ages of 3-6 are a very important age group for God’s Word to be set as their foundation and for Christian culture to be built up in their lives. We hope that all those in leadership positions in their Churches will see the importance of teaching God’s Word to this age group.
