Craft | A NEW CREATION
[Transformation in God]
*MATERIALS
+ 1 black and white picture of a butterfly and 1 picture of a cross.
+ 1 short section of colored pipe cleaner.
+ 2 straws, one long and one short.
+ Glue, clear tape, scissors.
*STEPS:
S1: Color in the butterfly’s wings and the cross.
S2: Stick the cross to the top of the butterfly’s body. Don’t cover the butterfly’s head.
S3: Curl up the ends of the pipe cleaner like in the picture and then fold it in half. Glue the folded section to the underside of the butterfly’s head so that the 2 sections of the pipe cleaner stick out like 2 butterfly antennae.
S4: Make a 2cm long cut in the top of the long straw (see picture). After that, put the butterfly’s body into the straw and tape them to each other so that the straw can’t move.
S5: Make a 3cm long cut in the head of the short straw (see picture). After that, slide the long straw into the short straw, and tape the end of the short straw to the underside of the two wings.
S6: With one hand holding the long straw still, use your other hand to slide the short straw up and down to make the wings move.
* MEANING:
A caterpillar will never have a new form if it never enters its cocoon first to be transformed. Not long after entering the cocoon, it breaks out. But we don’t see that slow-moving caterpillar anymore. Instead we see a colorful, nimble butterfly fluttering among hundreds of flowers. In Jesus, you can become a new creation. God wants you to be full of life and energy, flying in the sky with the love and dreams and hopes that God has for you – His new creation.
