The Bible reveals God as Jehovah Rapha, the Healer who restores, mends and renews our health and strength (Exodus 15:26). This name, Rapha, is fully embodied in Jesus Christ, who healed the blind, the lame, the deaf, the mute, and the sick in the New Testament. We call upon His name in our prayers for healing. God wants to heal us in every respect. He desires that those who have been saved to pray for their healing as an act of trust and dependence on Him. God’s healing includes the following:
PHYSICAL HEALING
Faith and the desire for healing have led many to experience what seemed impossible (Luke 8:43-48; Mark 10:46-52). However, sometimes He allows illness to deepen our reliance on Him, drawing us closer and allowing us to experience His grace (2 Corinthians 12:9).
EMOTIONAL HEALING
Emotional wounds can be profound and painful. Jesus went through all these things when He was rejected, denied, and betrayed (Hebrews 4:15-16). Yet He took upon Himself all of our suffering (Isaiah 53:4). He went through everything that we are suffering through. He overcame those things, and because of this, He can heal and bandage our wounds for us (Psalm 147:3).
MENTAL HEALING
Our minds are vulnerable to misleading thoughts and worldly opinions. Let God heal and transform our minds through His Word: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
SPIRITUAL HEALING
Spiritual ailments such as hypocrisy, arrogance, and bitterness can adversely affect our spiritual lives. We need to pray the words that King David prayed every day: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).
THE DISEASE OF SIN
The Bible reveals Jesus endured all this on the cross to heal our sinful nature and free us from sin’s destruction. We are fully restored in our relationship with God and enjoy eternal life. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
Is there anything you need healing from? Keep praying to God, but trust in His plan, no matter what happens. ❤️ Keep praying, trusting, and walking with God!
