In order to help everyone avoid situations where they might feel like going against their leaders, especially God, this writing offers some helpful advice.
THINK CORRECTLY ABOUT GOD
God is always right, and everything He does is for your good. Even if things don’t always go the way you want, remember that “…in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Learning more about God’s authority and justice will help you understand His will better, even when things are tough.
ADJUST MISTAKEN THINKING
It can be risky to have negative thoughts about someone or something, especially about those in authority. We need to let God’s Word shape our thoughts. He taught us to “be subject to the governing authorities” because they are put there by God for a reason (Romans 13:1).
REPENT IF YOU HAVE ANY WRONG ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT OTHERS
When kids think badly about their parents or others without talking about it, it can lead to misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Talk it out and clear up any confusion. Spend time with God and ask for His forgiveness if you’ve made wrong assumptions (1 John 1:9).
RESIST EVERY TEMPTATION IN THOUGHTS AND WORDS
Use kind, positive, and respectful words, even when talking about people you don’t like. Try to serve and help them as a way to fight against negative thoughts. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).
ASK GOD FOR HIS HELP
Rebellion often comes from thinking we know better than others. But more importantly, it can show that we’re unhappy with what God has given us. The best way to deal with this is to ask God to guide our hearts and keep us humble (Psalm 23:3).
